The Minoan Brotherhood
The Minoan Brotherhood was founded in the 1970s by Eddie Buczynski in New York City. Eddie also founded several other traditions of the Craft, each in response to norms of the time. In the case of the Minoan Brotherhood, it was a response to the heterosexist culture of many forms of Traditional Witchcraft that existed at the time.
We are a men's initiatory tradition of the Craft that celebrates Life, Men Loving Men, and Magic in a primarily Cretan context, also including some Aegean and Ancient Near Eastern mythology. The Minoan Brotherhood is open to any male of legal age who is comfortable working with an all-male current of power.
Another aspect of the Minoan Tradition, the Minoan Sisterhood, is designed to provide a framework for women to practice in a similar, all-female setting. A third path, the Cult of Rhea, represents the meeting ground between the two traditions.
The Rhode Island Grove of the Brotherhood is open to Seekers. We celebrate our rites at the 13 Full Moons and 8 Festivals of the Wheel.
